Innisfil Recruiting an Economic Advisory Committee

The Town of Innisfil is making an effort to keep the process of government more accessible to residents. The Town is looking for people to serve on a voluntary advisory committee consisting of nine members which would make recommendations to Council relating to the “economic well being” of the Town.

The Town would like the Economic Advisory Committee to reflect the views of a broad spectrum of residents representing:

  • agriculture / agri-foods;
  • arts / culture / heritage;
  • retail; manufacturing / industrial;
  • real estate / development; tourism / gaming / recreation;
  • health / education; youth; and business associations

Have you got knowledge or expertise in any of those fields? Got ideas about economic development in Innisfil? Consider joining the committee. A letter of interest must be submitted to the Economic & Community Development Officer by November 25. Click to view the press release for all the details.

This initiative follows on the creation of the ECDO position, a recent business showcase at Town Hall, and the opening of a business information centre (with Nottawasaga Futures and the Green Economy Centre) at Town Hall. On November 24 an information session will be held in Barrie concerning the Barrie Collingwood Railway as a cost- effective transportation option for businesses. Looks like some positive things are starting to happen in Innisfil bringing people and ideas together.

  1. Tourism Radio has submitted our official letter of interest to volunteer to this advisory committee, and we look forward to joining the new committee.
    As we are a non commercial CRTC approved tourism information radio station expected to start broadcasting in the new year to 400 highway traffic to draw visitors into our town. We will broadcast on 96.9 FM and tourists can telephone a local tourism information telephone number 705-999-3673. Our signage is starting to go up around town as our signal will be heard in car radios along the 400 highway as well as highways 27, 89 and old highway 11 (Yonge Street).
