The Town of Innisfil is accepting tenders for Precinct 2A of the Innisfil Beach Road urbanization. This work will extend the new streetscape westward from St. John’s Road to Ferguson Street, which is west of Jans Boulevard.
I hope local businesses and their Chamber of Commerce and will start to think now about possible strategies to counter the negative effects of construction and traffic disruption. I’ve got a few. How about you? What ideas do you have to support local businesses through a summer of road construction? Post a comment.
Since the first streetscape segment was completed, new development proposals are starting to emerge. Home Hardware has submitted a plan to enlarge the retail store by several thousand square feet and add a separate lumber storage building behind the existing retail building.
Another proposal would put two retail strips on three existing lots on the north side of Innisfil Beach Road, east of Jans Blvd., roughly across the road from the Shoppers Drug Mart store. A seven story residential building is also part of the proposal for this site. Another public meeting will be held before a final site plan is approved.
