Survey Will Help Develop a Food Charter for Simcoe County

Are you concerned about the future of our food? About food related issues like hunger, the health consequences of obesity and the growing costs of health care? You’re invited to complete a survey sponsored by the County of Simcoe. By participating you will be helping to develop a Food Charter for the County. An online video is also available for more information: Video: Food & Agriculture Charter

The County of Simcoe is working with community partners to develop a Simcoe County Food and Agriculture Charter.  The ultimate aim is to ensure a sustainable food system and to fully exploit the many economic, health and social benefits of local food for residents of Simcoe County.

The information collected will be used to make a first draft of the Charter. The County’s survey is available on-line until January 31, 2012.  Click here for the Simcoe County Food & Agriculture Charter Survey. If you prefer a paper copy of the survey contact a Community Health Centre or Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit office.  Health Unit offices are located in Cookstown, Barrie, Orillia, Midland and Collingwood.

Local residents have shown very little interest in my own polls and surveys at Our Innisfil. I encourage County residents to participate in the Food & Agriculture Charter survey.
