Innisfil Council has approved new zoning for the Innisfil Beach Road commercial district which brings the creation of a larger business core another step closer. The area from the 25th Sideroad to Jans Blvd. is zoned for mixed use (commercial, residential, institutional) up to 4 stories high. The frontages from Jans Blvd. to the 20th Sideroad are zoned for a maximum of 7 stories of mixed use development.Any new developments will be constructed closer to the sidewalk and drive-through lanes are not permitted in the area although existing drive-throughs are being “grandfathered”. The completed road improvements east of St. Johns Road include landscaped medians. Similar medians were deleted from this year’s reconstruction west of St. Johns, where the road will consist of 5 paved lanes and bike lanes.
In this year’s construction zone, new temporary utility poles have been installed further back from the road and wires restrung. A new work storage yard has appeared and construction cones are lining Innisfil Beach Road in preparation for the beginning of actual road work.
Further west, Simcoe County has been busy removing trees and brush in preparation for a redesigned intersection at Innisfil Beach Road and the 10th Sideroad.
