The Innisfil Farmers’ Market returns to the Innisfil Recreational Complex on Thursday, May 17. It will be substantially larger this season with more than 20 vendors expected to set up their stalls in the parking lot on opening day. The hours have been changed slightly – opening and closing one hour earlier – 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The market operates every Thursday until October and may move indoors until Christmas if arrangements can be made.
Coincidentally, celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver, is leading a world-wide “Food Revolution Day”, just 2 days later on May 19, encouraging companies, organizations and individuals to ‘get real’ about food. (More information and a list of events is available at the Food Bloggers of Canada website).
“Food Revolution Day on 19 May is a chance for people who love food to come together to share information, talents and resources; to pass on their knowledge and highlight the world’s food issues. All around the globe, people will work together to make a difference. Food Revolution Day is about connecting with your community through events at schools, restaurants, local businesses, dinner parties and farmers’ markets. We want to inspire change in people’s food habits and to promote the mission for better food and education for everyone.” The Innisfil Farmers’ Market is the ideal place to visit if you’d like to ‘get real’ about your family’s food – connect, learn, share, enjoy!
